    • The National Chengdu Center for Safety Evaluation of Drugs (NCCSED) was founded by West China Hospital of Sichuan University in 2000.  It received a major grant from the Ministry of Sciences & Technologies of China, and is one of the largest preclinical CRO laboratories in China. With its scientific and technical team of more than 80 professionals in the fields of General Toxicology, Safety Pharmacology, Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology, Genetic Toxicology, Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Analytical Chemistry, the NCCSED conducts a broad spectrum of preclinical GLP studies.

     

    The NCCSED is located in the Hi-tech Development Zone of Chengdu, a modern city with a rich history of more than 3,000 years.  Its testing facility contains a laboratory building, a SPF small animal facility, and a conventional large animal facility totaling 80 thousand square feet. The buildings were designed by a Japanese design company in conformance with GLP requirements.

     

    In conjunction with the West China Hospital, the largest health care facility in Asia, and Ping An NHP Base, it offers unique NHP disease models for efficacy evaluation of drug candidates.

     
    US services provider Frontier Biosciences has bought a majority stake in NCCSED. With this new deal, Frontier becomes a shareholder and partner in NCCSED.
