    Pharmaceutical import and export soars in 2004 and 1st Qtr of 2005 9/8/2005
    The total import and export of pharmaceutical and health products for the year of 2004 was US$22.1 billion, up by 26%, also according to Chinese Customs.  The import and export of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) in 2004 was US$11.1 billion, up by 25.7%.
     
    According to Chinese Customs statistics, the total import and export in value of pharmaceutical and health products by China in the first quarter of 2005 reached US$6,150 million, up by 26.39%.  Among the total, export was US$3,444 million, up by 33.47%, while import was US$2,706 million, up by 18.40%.
