    SFDA issues Interim Requirements for Internet-based Pharmaceutical Trading 10/13/2005
    The State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) formulated Interim Requirements for the Examination and Approval of Internet-based Pharmaceutical Trading Services, in accordance with the Drug Administration Law of the People's Republic of China and the Regulations for Implementation of the Drug Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, to fully implement Several Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Speeding up the Development of Electronic Business and standardize Internet-based pharmaceutical purchases and sales.

    The Internet-based pharmaceutical trading services referred to in the Requirements are those electronic business activities that provide pharmaceutical (including medical devices, drug immediate packaging materials and containers) trading services through the Internet, including those services provided to the Internet-based pharmaceutical trade between drug manufacturers, distributors and medical institutions, the Internet-based pharmaceutical trade performed by drug manufacturers and wholesalers via their own websites with other enterprises and the Internet-based pharmaceutical trading services provided to individual customers.
     
    Enterprises engaged in Internet-based pharmaceutical trading services shall be examined and recognized by SFDA and receive Certificate of Internet-based Pharmaceutical Trading Service Organization from SFDA. The valid term of the certificate is five years.


    All Internet-based pharmaceutical trading services in the People's Republic of China shall comply with the Requirements.
