    SFDA Sponsors Seminar on International Pharmaceutical Cooperation Strategy 9/19/2005

    The State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) recently held the First Seminar on International Pharmaceutical Cooperation Strategy in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Related SFDA departments and units and local drug regulatory departments participated in the seminar.


    Chang Wenzuo, director of the Department of International Cooperation of SFDA, delivered a keynote speech titled "Advance with the Times and Expand International Cooperation". The seminar discussed Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention/ Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme (PIC/S), International Cooperation in Herbal Medicine, WHO Certification Scheme on the Quality of Pharmaceutical Products moving in International Commerce, International Cooperation in Combating Counterfeit Drugs and the implementation of WHO Regional Access Strategy 2005-2010. 


    In international cooperation in drug administration, China should "better serve the nation's foreign affairs, the drug administration and the strategic objectives of building a well-off society" and speed up the establishment of a regulatory system that is in line with international practice, meets Chinese national conditions and satisfies the needs of the socialist market economy.
