Simon Luo, a leading expert and executive in field of Chinese pharmaceutical and healthcare information, has recently accepted the invitation of James Shen, Publisher and Chief Editor of Pharma China, to join Pharma China's Advisory Board.

Simon was instrumental in the founding and development of IMS Health's business in China (including its various national and regional drug purchase audits) and had managed the company's China operations for over a decade. Before his departure from IMS in early 2009, he was Director of Operations, IMS Health Greater China (China, Taiwan and South Korea) and Board Director of IMS Market Research Consulting (Shanghai) Co. Ltd.

From 2002 to 2003, Simon was General Manager, Board Director and Country Manager of IMS Market Research Consulting (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., and between 1998 and 2002, he was Chief Representative and Country Manager of IMS ChinaMetrik Inc. Before IMS acquired ChinaMetrik in 1998, Simon had been Director of China Business and China Project Manager with ChinaMetrik Inc. since 1991. He was a pharmaceutical researcher with various Chinese and US research institutions between 1982 and 1991.

Simon continues to hold many important professional positions including: Board Director, Chinese Hospital Association; Senior Advisor, National Institute of Hospital Administration under the Ministry of Health; Advisor, China Association of Pharmaceutical Commerce; and Advisor, China Association of Chain Drug Stores.

Simon was educated in both China and the United States. He gained an MS degree in medical chemistry from Baylor University, U.S.A. in 1989.
