    SFDA says no to advertisements promoting health food with illegally added chemical drugs 2/21/2006

    The Ministry of Health (MOH) recently issued a notice, which announced the investigation and prosecution of 14 slimming health foods with illegally added chemical drugs.


    The State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) requires that local food and drug regulatory departments should no more accept applications for health food advertisements related to the announced health foods in the notice in accordance with Interim Requirements for Health Food Advertisement Reviewing. For approved advertisements of the health foods listed in the announcement, the approval number of the advertisement shall be immediately withdrawn. At the same time, the provincial-level food and drug regulatory departments shall take stronger measures to supervise the health food advertisements within their jurisdictions. Any illegal advertisements related to the announced health food products shall be referred to relevant departments in a timely manner.
