    Abbott Pharma denies deal to acquire Shengyuan Dairy 1/26/2006
    BEIJING (AFX) - Abbott Laboratories, a major US pharmaceutical firm, has denied a report that appeared on a Chinese website saying it was in talks to acquire China's Qingdao Shengyuan Dairy Co.

    'The report is a hoax. We have no plans to purchase Shengyuan,' Abbott (China) public relations director Wang Ling told XFN-Asia.

    Shengyuan public relations manager Wang Boque also said he had no information on the report.

    Food and beverage sector website foodqs.com reported earlier that Abbott was offering 200 mln usd for the dairy firm, citing unnamed company officials.
