    12 OTC drugs converted to Rx 1/23/2006
    The State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) issued on December 20, 2005 a notice and decided to convert 12 OTC drugs to prescription drugs (including 9 chemical drugs and 3 Chinese Proprietary Medicines) to ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs used by public in accordance with relevant laws and regulations and  the monitoring and assessment of the safety of OTC drugs.

    The list of 12 OTC drugs converted to prescription drugs:

    1. Chemical drugs

    1)  Chloramphenicol Ear Drops
    2)  Chloramphenicol Eye Drops
    3)  Salbutamol Sulfate Tablets
    4)  Salbutamol Sulfate Capsules
    5)  Salbutamol Sulfate Sustained Release Tablets
    6)  Salbutamol Sulfate Controlled Release Capsules
    7)  Compound Liquorice Tablets
    8)  Compound Liquorice Buccal Tablets
    9)  Indometacin Suppositories

    2. Chinese Proprietary Medicines

    1) Qianbai Biyan Tablets
    2) Qianbai Biyan Capsules
    3) Yuanjilin Ganhe Cha
