China and the United States will step up technological co-operation and information exchange in the fight against bird flu, both sides agreed at a seminar yesterday in Beijing. 

    The two countries should enhance co-ordination and understanding in adopting international standards to properly resolve quarantine issues to facilitate the trade of poultry products. 

    At the same time they should ensure their quality and safety, according to a statement from the gathering, which was attended by officials from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China and the US Department of Agriculture.
